Click on the big arrow in the middle of the screen, rather than the play button on the lower right. This will take you directly to youtube rather than playing the video second hand through the blog.
What are you doing checking out Tekki? :-)

The first video is youtube.com/watch?v=vvcj1ZWqrsUThe second is youtube.com/watch?v=acYWinQFlf8The third is youtube.com/watch?v=YNrslr9LWIwBizarre! Hmmm. When I first visited you and asked if you did Basai and Chulgi, I think your answer to that was "Why would I? They're not Taekwondo patterns." I'm glad that you are. :-) Q. And which of your (or our) tuls looks like Tekki? A. __________ Colin

Come on, your a techie.. whats the fix? What browser are you using? I'm assuming you're up to date. Try another browser. Who knows. Maybe go to Tools, Options and make sure to Restore Default Settings. Maybe someone messed you around and changed your video playing settings in your browser? Well, I'm very impressed that you do!!! Yeah ... I wish we could train more often. So when are you coming down to Australia? :-) Colin

Tekki Training Program Dr Bruce Clayton says that Tekki is part of a bodyguarding program used by the Okinawans in their job to protect the Emperor or Regent. Tekki was a way in which to fight as part of a team, standing in front of your principal and using your opponents as part of your shielding. Some of the material appearing below is a synthesis of 'traditional' or accepted Shotokan bunkai. I believe that some of the conventional thinking has room for improvement.
The kata is about a head height strike with takedown. 1. You are right side forward the opponent strikes you with right hand. You block with an extension of your right hand opening out on the outside of his right strike whilst starting to step forward to gap close. Get close to his core trunk grabbing the left side of his head with the palm of your right hand. Elbow into the right side of his head with left elbow. Shift down centre and come down hard on his right leading hand. Grab hand with right hand and lower block into chest with left hand. Do a takedown using extended left hand (can't explain this as it is too subtle- need to show it). Punch across body breaks arm across your left thigh. 2. You are right side forward and opponent strikes you with left hand. You block with arms folded in front of you. Grab left side of head with right palm. Elbow face. Wrap your right hand under the left extended hand, behind and over the shoulder. Come down hard pulling toward your right hip. Left hand grabs opponent's left hand which is extended up and back over his body. Perform lower block. Then punch on to the elbow either breaking it or forcing opponent forwards to your left and into the ground.
The kata is about throwing the person behind you in order that your buddy can use him as a shield 1. The opponent grabs your right lapel using his right hand (a punch or reach with right hand works too). You may uppercut him into his nose AND push on the outside of his right elbow with your left hand. Immediately you turn to your right, stepping your left side towards the opponent AND do a lower block to his right elbow. This turns the opponent to his left. You are now next to the opponent - and use your left hand in a rising circular motion to come right into his face. His right arm is bent and held on your body. He's bent backward and got your left hand on his face. Now step back with your left leg to where you began, pull down on your left hand and assume your previous cover - left hand held vertically and right hand horizontally. Your buddy behind you could have 'recieved' this opponent using a head or hair grab, or let him hit the ground then pick him up.
This kata is about striking the opponent and using him as a shield 1. You have your left side forward. Opponent reaches out with his left hand. You grab left with your right and make for his hair or clothes with your left. You kick him with your right instep into his knee. When he starts to crumple, you move his left hand into your left hand whilst stepping behind him. You swing your right hand over his right shoulder and come across hard on his jawline and nose from the right side. You take a step back to your previous position by mocing your right foot back. Then you incline his head and strike to his throat with your left hand - ridge hand coming back like a vise. Both hands are holding onto his face and neck at the same time.
A few other things - but that's the highlight.
