I'd like to extend my heartiest congratulations to my long time internet friend Mir for being offered her first teaching post and a dojo to call her own. Congratulations Sensei!

*Big Blush* Thank you to you all for your well wishes, and kind words.
I haven't been officially "announced" yet.. but I have taught my first classes as "Sensei". When I stood in front of the group of students, facing the shomin wall, and in silence.. I felt the weight of the expectations of those standing behind me. I realized that in the next hour, they were relying on my guidance to learn something about themselves, their chosen martial art, and about others. I knew in my heart that I was ready to do my best to offer this knowledge to them.
As always, I felt the joy of training in karate fill me, but in addition to this, there was also the joy of teaching.
Truly, there are challenges, and burdens connected with this placement... I'm just starting to pull together the paperwork part. Also, I've had to sacrifice some of my own classes, and vacation plans so that I could be present for my dojo. I've realized that I will have to balance my needs with the needs of my students so that we all can grow, learn, and prosper.

I felt the weight of the expectations of those standing behind me. To do a good job, at minimum, all you've got to be is the lens. At most, all you've got to be is yourself. Colin

Thank you Mat. So now you know what the "hush, hush" thing is about.
I think that it's pretty funny that there are people in Australia, Britain, United States, and Montreal that are aware of this happening, but (so far) hardly anyone knows about it in my city. I'm not too worried about people finding out about it though... Although it hasn't been officially announced, so many people in my club are coming up to me to discuss it. I find myself awkwardly trying to avoid the topic by saying "I can't talk about this issue right now.. sorry."
My students will be testing for their next rank in a couple of weeks. Wow! Talk about pressure.. I've only been teaching them for about 8 one hour classes. I volunteered to do some extra "after class" teaching to the higher belts to bring their knowledge up since they needed more than what could be offered in just one hour, and I knew that this belt rank test was coming soon. I've seen alot of improvement in these students, and I believe that they will do fine on their test.

Ah Colin! Thank you.
By the way, after reading my last post, I thought that it might seem a little quick for my students to be belt rank testing already to a reader, since I've only taught 8 classes. I realized that I haven't mentioned that I have been asked to take over an already existing dojo as their Sensei.
I'm hoping to have a website for my dojo in the future. ( Thank you Colin for helping me on this endeavor.) When we have it ready, we'll put the url here.

I know I've said it, but yet again,
In good hands, they are.

Aw Mat... Thanks..
So far, my students seem to not mind my hands.
I've been using my hands frequently to help readjust their pull back hand, bring forward their front knee, center their target, straighten their backs, get them to lower their shoulders, etc. etc.
Sometimes I wish that I had multi arms like Kali, the East Indian Goddess of War. Then I could help more than one student at a time.
