Most katas/forms show an imaginary fight with invisible opponents. How do you feel or visualize the real concept of a technique for self defense purposes. Personally speaking I think we use about 75% of the form techniques for self defense.

I usually perform kata either as a pattern or a self defence sequence...I perform different ones with different defaults now that I think about it.
Although, I many kata are a kind of bank of options for a particular type of encounter, rather than an actual fight re-enacted.
