In summary, I am conducting another round of nominations for IAOMAS Honour Roll 2007. This year's nomination is going to look at Tenacity as a character trait. Please cast your vote above - in the next three weeks. I will reserve veto or confirmation rights by the end of second week September. For more information go to the link.

The Honour Roll is an award and recognition mechanism to promote the values of IAOMAS as a whole and the characteristics that this organisation values.
This award should in no way impede on any one martial art system or detract from the skills that your instructor is attempting to develop in you. It can be used in complement to build up morale and awareness amongst your student body.
The Honour Roll 2007 honours outstanding individuals who uphold the highest ideals of IAOMAS, and who by virtue of their personalities are models for which all others in this organisation strive to emulate.
The theme for 2005 was friendship. The Honour Roll theme for 2007 is TENACITY.
IAOMAS is about 'bringing the world closer together,' but before we can do that we need to be able to face the challenges in our respective dojos. Hard training requires courage and determination. To persevere despite challenges and setbacks, AND THEN to see the bigger goal requires quiet strength - this is TENACITY.
Far beyond a measure of strength, tenacity allows martial artists to stay the course and to form character that others will never know. In upholding this trait, IAOMAS members worldwide acknowledge the tenacity of the few individuals who have pushed for IAOMAS to be formed and to be established. It recognises that tenacity is again needed to push for progress.
Note to Instructors/School Owners/President of Student Body: please facilitate a voting process in which to nominate one person from each school (if you have more than one branch, then one student per branch). The recommended way to do this is to coordinate a student voting process; a possible way is to get each student to pick two students that reflect the above trait. You then can do a tally of votes in confidence and pick the one that has been voted the most times. If there is a tie, you can choose between the two at your own discretion. OR you can just pick a student to receive this award.
Each person voted per school should then be submitted to the instructor's forum including:
1. Name
2. School (Branch)
3. School Web Address
4. Country
5. Student's Email Address
Students can then have the honour to reference honour roll achievements on their martial arts (or other) CV.
As a side note: By 'Student', you can extend the meaning to any member of your school with the core exception of the governing chief instructor or in the absence of that person, then the acting chief instructor or branch instructor. Meaning you CAN vote for assistant instructors if you extend the meaning of 'student' to extend to cover any person training in the martial arts.
All votes should be submitted by end of second week September (Sept 8 2007), and emailed directly to colin@hikarudojo.com.
For more information, please email me directly colin@hikarudojo.com. Those interested in shaping how the Honour Roll develops, and the criteria and mechinations of the award for next year, please volunteer your time to this worthy endeavour.
