Happy New Year Sifu White.
I wish the best to all of my internet friends. May the year 2007 bring as many successes as challenges.
My "resolution" is simple. I intend to work towards a healthier lifestyle by bringing up the amount of fruits and vegtables that I eat everyday, and lowering the amount of sugar in my diet.
Yours, Mireille

Happy New Year, indeed.
I wish you all the best this coming year - still 10 minutes away here in the center of the universe (Texas).
I've resolved for a healthier lifestyle this year, as well, and that begins with more serious workout time!
Will

Happy new year all! I've been away from the internet for a while. A lot of good it did! For 2007, I plan on keeping training like last year. My resolution is "just keep going". :-) Best wishes for you on the weight thing. Putting time and effort on ourselves is the only investment we do that truly pays off. Best of luck!

Tim, That would be great, hopefully by then I'll be in better shape. It's slow going, but I'm already doing better. My mind and spirit are willing, it's the flesh that's weak Will Will. I will be back in Dallas in a few months to Teach a Police Seminar, maybe we can hook up. Tim

How is everyone doing on their NY resolution? I've downed 8 to 10lbs now.. its a fluxuating thing.. depends on the day.. but a good 8 lbs is shed off right now.. I've been hitting the gym up pretty regularly and trying to diet right.. i slip up occassionally but don't we all? But the thing that i found out a while back... is if you can cardio your but off, ie. run, jog, swim, etc.. for at least 60 to 90mins a day.. you can eat almost what you want within reason, and don't over due it as long as its backed with good diet and allow a few slip ups here and there and still manage to peel off weight.. Is it recommended? Id say not.. but its allowable.
I try to run about 2miles a day 5 days a week.. but don't always get it in.. Or at least 6 to 8 miles a week.. believe it or not thats not alot and it works out tremendously.. for those killer cardio guys that can run 6miles at one time... Even the better.. my body can't much get passed 2 miles.. im pretty burned out after that.. or either i get bored with running much around the 2 mile marker.
best of luck to you all..

I've been working out more lately as well ,and it's been interesting - the cardio, in particular. In just the few weeks I've been doing it, I've gone from not being able to run 1/4 mile without breathing like a steam engine and pulse off the scale, to 15 minutes and pulse 20-30 bpm less than at the beginning. I haven't been militant about it or anything, doing every other day - still, in a couple of weeks, I've lost a few pounds - now for the other 30...
Want some variety? Try jump roping for 8 minutes instead of running a mile.

That's great Will. I have been trying to do a maintenance sort of workout too. Strength training is easier, so I've not really been doing much cardiovascular. But it's been fairly good. Summer months here in Australia are better - less muscle cramps and cricks. Colin

I'm definitely a Summer kinda guy These 50 degree and colder days get me down, I can't wait for the warm days to return. It's hard to be motivated to work out while wearing a parka.

I'm holding on firm to my resolutions so far. I've lost 8 pounds also, but I'm expecting this type of weight loss to slow down, and become more steady at a rate of about a pound a week.
I totally understand how difficult it is to train outside in a parka.. I guess that's why us Kyokushin go out snow training just in our Gi. I'm not kidding. It was -12 degrees celcius outside, and we went out to run laps, and do basics in the same clothes that we wear to train indoors. The good news was that there was no windchill.
Most of the time we were wearing runners, but I got to experience running barefoot in ankle deep snow for the first time. HOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No words can describe what that feels like!
I'm not a summer person. I'd rather be in a cooler environment and train, than be in a hot one. I find that I can barely move when the heat hits.
