The Martial Arts Curator was initially formed in 2005 to look at a set of Korean patterns as used by my school that came from a time period which shares little with the present day practice of modern schools. Resources available were scarce, and I thought I had a responsibility to make such information accessible.
That initial concept has now grown to encompass the idea that each of us are curators of martial knowledge. We have inherited a living tradition. This tradition survives through our practice and our discussions. It is made pertinent to the present through our ability to present its contextual worth. I once heard that history is not a story of things that have past but a prelude to what may once again happen.
With the idea to preserve and explore the historical background and the evolution of my style, I search the web for those who practice styles that were precursors of my system. I also search the web for those that are the predecessors of my system.
The Martial Arts Curator is however more than any one style; or the evolution of one style. If you:
then perhaps you should think about establishing a Curator forum for yourself? If you'd like, once you get a good idea and want to join us, send me an email. We'll set up however many boards you need.
Our intention is to keep this forum private. Meaning anyone can visit and check out the posts, but only invited members are authorised to post. This allows us to keep the content to a very high standard, and reduce the necessity of moderation.
Keep training hard! Keep training smart!

Colin

The Martial Arts Curator is however more than any one style; or the evolution of one style. If you:
1. practice a system that relies on patterns to transmit knowledge
2. know that variations in technique occurs within similar schools
3. have little opportunity to discuss facts, colloquial usage, or heresays about your patterns
then perhaps you should think about establishing a Curator forum for yourself? If you'd like, once you get a good idea and want to join us, send me an email. We'll set up however many boards you need.
