I found this board and it looks very exciting since I am deeply interested with kata bunkai. I can't wait to learn from all of you and perhaps contribute a bit here and there myself.
I'm Alex Nguyen. I'm a first dan in TKD and I have experience in a variety of other arts, including Okinawan karate, aikijutsu, and some silat.

Hello Alex. Welcome to TMAC. There's a wide range of stylistic experiences on board, and while our primary objective is to crystallise some of our thoughts regarding our own style, there is always the additional benefit of getting feedback from high ranking practitioners from other styles. Sometimes we stray, and then return to our various studies - please take the opportunity to create your own little corner and work at it! Good luck with your practice. Rgds, Colin

I have alot of fun watching your uke demonstration partner get thrown around in the bunkai videos, Colin. My kids can hear my laughing all the way upstairs. There have been times when I had to rewind the video to watch the bunkai again because my eyes teared up with laughter and blurred my sight.
Bunkai is fun when I'm not the one being demonstrated upon.. ha ha ha.

You should have seen how much wincing the guy did off video. Poor thing. He has the most basic of breakfalling skills from his 9th and 8th kyu grading, but he sure got a lot of on-the-job training. You commented that I looked really relaxed - actually I was trying to be as gentle as possible. He was just not used to the level of 'play'. Did you download the last 20 MB clip I put on the yousendit site (the one that featured several drills at the end)? Colin
ps. BTW - I'm sending you a high-res copy sometime in the next few weeks.

Yes.. yes I did see that one. I had to fight my teenagers for access to the computer, but I finally did get to look through it. As usual.. I loved it! Quite a wonderful compliment to the first section.
In fact, I took one of the drills with me to my class, and asked my higher students to try it out. It's such a simple and effective set of movements that it took no time to get them to perform it with speed, and confidence.
You've got quite an awesome package of information on the moves of Tekki ( Chulgi) there.

Sorry Stoneheart. Colin and I have highjacked your thread... Um... Do you perform the Chulgi pattern in your studies? If you do, do you like it? Which would be your favorite pattern to perform?

Could you please add this (and your experiences in instructing it) to the other Chulgi thread? Colin
